Public Intervention, 2015
In the days around June 17 in 1953, there was a national uprising in which hundreds of thousands of demonstrators gathered. This protest culminated in the bloody crushing by the Red Army. Nowadays, the Potsdamer Platz is characterized by shopping malls, office buildings and movie theaters. This is where the Boulevard of Stars is located, which is inspired by LA's "Walk of Fame".
The work "Boulevard des 17. Juni" deals with revealing the historical aura of a location. By a series of three interventions, minimally invasive changes are made to the "Boulevard of the Stars" to reference the June 17 Uprising.

I - Impulse
At that time, the uprising was more or less coordinated by the West Berlin radio station "RIAS" by informing about gathering points and reporting live.
The original audio recordings were broadcast in the first intervention, appropriately timed, on the original frequency 89.6 (today Deutschland Radio Kultur) via a custom radio transmitter on site.
II - Resistance
Representing the folk people' s uprising, the fatally injured protester Horst Bernhagen was put between the film actors as black and white appearance. In this way, Bernhagen subtly becomes immortalized in the tourists' photos.
III - Smashup
In Memory of the victims of the June 17, 1953 Uprising, we placed our own star between the others on the boulevard. As a symbol of the past, this star is not made of polished brass, but of rusted steel.
